Two Magic Items from Lemnos

The Spear of Hector and Point of Achilles

Once this spear protected Troy, Priam and Andromache. Now it has found itself in the heart of a boar on Lemnos after being tossed in a fitful rage by victorious Achilles across the Aegean. With its purpose gone, the rage of its owner's killer now festers within the point and the unfortunate boar. What remains of the shaft as splintered as the gates of the ruined city - one cannot hold it without giving it the blood it desires.

A new shaft infused with new purpose must be fitted to the point to return this noble weapon to a noble purpose.

As The Point of Achilles:
As dagger +1 damage.
Special: When held by or piercing an indivual, this individual is unable to die. This effect is immediately dispelled upon the item being removed or dropped. Wounds that have not healed prior to being dropped or removed will catch up with the user immediately. Every time someone with this on their person faces adversity, they must succeed in a morale test to avoid entering a violent frenzy and attempting to resolve the problem through violence. The same test applies if one wishes to spare a foe from a violent bloody death.

Constraining the blind rage of Achilles with a new purpose and shaft expels this bloodlust from the weapon, with the effect being lost immediately.

As The Spear of Hector:
As spear +2 damage.
Special: When used in pursuit of protecting or directly advancing the goals of someone that the owner has sworn an oath to, the spear will always strike true. One can only be released from the oath either by the person it has been sworn to or through completion of the tasks required. This property is lost entirely should the oath be broken by the wielder, and the blessing of Hector is lost forever.

Amulet of the Mercucial Moray

Dangling from a simple copper chain in a large glass disc framed with filigreed silver, an eel swims in viscous shifting mercury. The tiny godling has been tasked by Mother Chryse to watch over his beloved father. It feasts on all magic whether divine or profane that attempts to harm elderly Philoctetes, hunted by Apollo and Aphrodite for striking down beautiful Paris. He is blissfully unaware of the lengths to which his nymph-bride has gone to protect him since first she laid eyes upon him so many years ago.

Special: Grants the wearer +4 warding against all magical effects. All spells aimed at the wearer are partially absorbed and duplicated by the godling eel. The power of this amulet can be evoked to cast this spell when desired, or the eel may choose to use the magic to protect the owner. If multiple spells are stored, the effects will combine with potentially disastrous results.
