Lamiai
First her husband, then her sons, then her daughters.
First their wives, then their sons, then their daughters.
Left by broken bodies, pooling blood.
She will leave them nothing, no bones to mourn.
The world is dark, no need for eyes, an easy deal.
No blessing of the Gods' could rival the Serpent Queen's reward.
No blessing of the Gods' could rival the Serpent Queen's reward.
Her new form sanctified by the flesh of the tyrant's heirs.
Lamiai are vengeful daemons, stories of which silence rowdy children and leave them sheltering beneath blankets. These spirits were once mortal women who suffered such fates that they dedicated their bodies, lives, and souls to revenge. In a bloody ritual they offered their eyes to the blind Queen Lamia and in exchange ascended their mortality.
Now they stalk the kin and clans of those that wronged them. They appear as regular blind women. Only when the lamiai opens her mouth does the prey understand their peril. When they strike, nothing remains.
The taste of revenge is sweet, and its sustenance unparalleled.
